Design

At Ellie Mae, we work to create thoughtful pieces that embody the raw authenticity that we’ve made a staple of our design process. As part of this process, we embrace high quality fabrics, local production and nostalgia to make one-of-a-few pieces that spark joy.

At the foundation of each of these pieces is high quality fabric, as we feel this is integral to creating pieces with longevity. When sourcing from the likes of Italy and France, we always choose fabrics that feel like they have personalities themselves and try to weave their story into each piece.

Local production

In order to maintain the integrity and quality of our garments, we have both our design and production teams under one roof within our studio. Comprised of cutters, sewers and pattern-makers, the production team works closely with design to iterate a piece to perfection. We see this process as a true labour of love – seeding from an idea that the entire team nurtures through to fruition.

Individuality

Given the time, energy and resources it takes to create one constructed piece, we don’t participate in mass production. We design a limited number of pieces that tell a story of individualistic style with effortless undertones, only making as many as needed. As a result, we feel our pieces are as thoughtful, unique and eco conscious as possible. As tribute to the limited runs we make, you’ll find a sewn-in reference number within each garment that lets you know which one-of-the-few you’re getting.

When creating our collections, we integrate old school, new school, and our signature unapologetic commitment to individuality, in every piece we make. Just like anything we do, we’re here to create our own rules - for our clothes and our customers.
